Senate Concurrent Resolution 610

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION SUSPENDING THE DEADLINES FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE FURTHER CONSIDERATION AND PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL NO. 519, 1999 REGULAR SESSION, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A HEALTH CARE TRUST FUND IN THE STATE TREASURY INTO WHICH SHALL BE DEPOSITED MONIES FROM THE SETTLEMENT OF THE LAWSUIT AGAINST TOBACCO COMPANIES BY THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI; TO PROVIDE THAT THE PRINCIPAL OF THE TRUST FUND SHALL REMAIN INVIOLATE AND SHALL NEVER BE EXPENDED; TO PROVIDE THAT MONIES IN THE TRUST FUND THAT ARE SUBJECT TO EXPENDITURE SHALL BE EXPENDED EXCLUSIVELY FOR HEALTH ISSUES; TO PROVIDE THAT MONIES IN THE TRUST FUND SHALL BE INVESTED IN ANY OF THE INVESTMENTS AUTHORIZED FOR THE MISSISSIPPI PREPAID AFFORDABLE COLLEGE TUITION PROGRAM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES."

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That the following bill is hereby exempt from the timetable for consideration of bills provided by Joint Rule No. 40, and that consent is hereby given for further consideration of House Bill No. 519, 1999 Regular Session, entitled "AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A HEALTH CARE TRUST FUND IN THE STATE TREASURY INTO WHICH SHALL BE DEPOSITED MONIES FROM THE SETTLEMENT OF THE LAWSUIT AGAINST TOBACCO COMPANIES BY THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI; TO PROVIDE THAT THE PRINCIPAL OF THE TRUST FUND SHALL REMAIN INVIOLATE AND SHALL NEVER BE EXPENDED; TO PROVIDE THAT MONIES IN THE TRUST FUND THAT ARE SUBJECT TO EXPENDITURE SHALL BE EXPENDED EXCLUSIVELY FOR HEALTH ISSUES; TO PROVIDE THAT MONIES IN THE TRUST FUND SHALL BE INVESTED IN ANY OF THE INVESTMENTS AUTHORIZED FOR THE MISSISSIPPI PREPAID AFFORDABLE COLLEGE TUITION PROGRAM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES."
